Gpu macs fan control1/31/2024 ![]() Available from the App Store are System Monitor (above), Temperature Gauge (below), and more. There are several tools which can tell you measured temperatures from within your Mac, as well as its fan speed. Take a look at CPU load in Activity Monitor, check that your Mac is fully shaded, and its vents and outer surface are unobstructed and able to lose heat properly.Ī common problem is using laptop models on a soft surface: they rely on being lifted slightly above a hard surface on their feet, which enables airflow to the underside, from which they are cooled. If your fans start normally, then progressively run up until they remain blowing at full blast, first suspect that the system is responding correctly to its control. Resetting its SMC is necessary to restore normal fan control. This affects the latest 2018 model with a T2 chip, when the Mac is connected to mains power at about the same time that its Power button is pressed to start it up. There is currently one rare set of circumstances in which an apparent firmware bug can cause a MacBook Pro to start up with its fans stuck running at full blast. If your fans come on full blast during startup, and don’t settle down, check systematically through these causes to discover what is wrong. Careful cleaning is vital to ensure effective cooling from the fans. Air ducts, grilles, etc., are choked with dirt and debris.Restarting your Mac normally restores full function. Core Duet has failed and can’t restart. This in turn can occur because of a bug in the SMC firmware. The SMC needs to be reset, usually because of a software glitch.A common reason for failure is damage when a user attempts to repair or upgrade their Mac. Unfortunately, as these are often embedded in hardware components, replacement may require a complete exchange logic board, or similar. Among the common reasons for failure are: The fans themselves, and associated air ducts, grilles, etc.įailure in any part of that system can render the system non-functional, which should release the fans to run at maximum speed for safety. The Core Duet software control system for energy management in macOS.The System Management Controller (SMC), either a separate custom chip or part of Apple’s new T2 chip in some recent models, with its own firmware.Temperature sensors embedded in several or many parts of its hardware. The control system consists of the following components: When your Mac is hot and needs cooling down, which is exactly what the control system is intended to do, of course. When a kernel panic or other system failure is so severe that the normal control system stops working. When that Mac is in Target disk mode, in which the normal control system may be unavailable in some models. These include when the thermal control system is unavailable to slow its fans down, and are typically: There are circumstances in which your Mac’s fans may well be intended to run at their maximum. It’s the control system which slows them down from that, so long as your Mac stays cool, and the system is functioning normally. Macs are engineered for self-preservation: by default, their cooling fans are set to be full on, blasting away at maximum revs, to prevent your CPU, chipsets, and SSDs from overheating to death. Pictures of happy bones1/31/2024 The bones of the shoulder are as given below. The shoulder is made of two bones that together allow the attachment of the arm to the body. It is the smallest bone in the human body. The function of the stapes is to transmit sound vibrations from the incus to the labyrinth of the inner ear. The oval window is nothing but an opening to the inner ear, and it is covered with a membrane. The stapes is a stirrup-shaped small bone that is attached to the incus at one end, and to the fenestra ovalis or the “oval window”, on the other. Its function is to transmit sound vibrations from the malleus to the stapes. The incus is an anvil-shaped bone that connects the malleus to the stapes. Its function is to transmit sound vibrations from the eardrum to the incus. The malleus is a small hammer-shaped bone that is attached to the eardrum at one end, and to the incus at the other. These are very small bones, and their function is to transmit sound vibrations from the eardrum to the inner ear. In all mammals, including humans, the middle ear has three bones that are known as the auditory ossicles. The middle ear is the region between the eardrum and the cochlea. It articulates with 6 bones: the ethmoid, the sphenoid, the two palatine bones, and the two maxillary bones. It is a thin, flat single bone that lies along the midsagittal line. Located above these bones, are the middle nasal concha and the superior nasal concha, which arise from the cranial region. These are paired bones of the face that arise from the maxillary bone and continue horizontally along the lateral wall of the nasal cavity. Each lacrimal bone articulates with the frontal bone, the ethmoid bone, the maxilla, and the inferior nasal concha. The lacrimal bone is the smallest bone of the face, and there are 2 such bones, each one forming a part of the median wall of the orbital cavity. These are 2 oblong bones, and their size varies in different individuals. The nasal bones are two in number, and together form the bridge of the nose. It is one of the many bones that form the walls of the orbital cavity. ![]() There are 2 such bones, one on each side of the face, forming the prominence of the cheek. The zygomatic bone is also known as the cheekbone or malar bone. Besides the nasal cavity, it also contributes to the roof of the mouth as well as to the floor of the orbit. It is located behind the nasal cavity and hence, contributes to its floor and the lateral walls. The palatine is an L-shaped bone that is situated between the maxilla and the pterygoid process of the sphenoid. Canadian urologist artoon1/30/2024 ![]() Responses were anonymous and no personal information was collected or stored. The survey questions were formatted as short answer, multiple choice, or Likert rating scale questions. All items were then revised according to the feedback received in the pilot survey. Following approval from the CIUSSS de l’Estrie - CHUS Research Ethics Board, a pilot questionnaire was developed and tested among 20 urologists in October 2018. This is a descriptive cross-sectional study using electronic surveys and conducted based on known guidelines. We also aimed to characterize patient and disease factors associated with use of active surveillance and triggers used as criteria for intervention. The objectives of this survey study were to characterize the use of active surveillance in the management of complex renal cysts in Canada and to elicit the perceived barriers to adoption. However, the adoption of this treatment strategy for the management of complex cysts in Canada and the criteria used by urologists as triggers for discontinuation of surveillance and intervention have yet to be defined. Recent observational data has provided support for the use of active surveillance among patients with complex renal cysts. Thus, active surveillance has been proposed as an alternative to surgery. However, similar to small non-cystic renal masses, there is growing evidence suggesting that most of these cysts are indolent and unlikely to metastasize. Bosniak III and IV cysts have a high risk of malignancy (40–60% and 80–90%, respectively) and have traditionally been managed with surgical excision. Cystic renal cell carcinoma represents approximately 5–10% of all renal malignancies. Renal cysts are classified according to the Bosniak classification, which categorizes the cysts according to their degree of complexity and risk of malignancy. Up to one third of individuals over 60 years of age will be diagnosed with a renal cyst following abdominal imaging. High-quality studies are required to better define the benefits and risks of cystic renal mass surveillance. Practice patterns are heterogeneous among those offering surveillance. Conclusionsĭespite active surveillance being included as a management option in guidelines, many Canadian urologists are reluctant to offer surveillance to patients with Bosniak III or IV cysts. The most commonly reported barriers to a greater adoption of surveillance were concerns regarding its oncologic safety, the lack of data to support surveillance in this population, and the lack of triggers for discontinuation of active surveillance and intervention. ![]() ![]() A significantly greater proportion of academic urologists, compared to non-academic urologists, viewed surveillance as a management option for patients with a Bosniak III or IV cyst. Management of Bosniak III cysts varied considerably. MethodsĪ web-based survey was sent to all registered, active members of the Canadian Urological Association ( N = 583) in October 2018. The main objective of this study was to characterize the use of surveillance in the management of complex renal cysts. Plug & Play is deeply odd, and a real pleasure for it. Especially given that buying a 20 minute sitcom episode on iTunes will cost you £2.50. At just £2, the extremely short running time feels much more okay. I imagine that actively not enjoying the original animation isn't something likely to be rescued by this limited interaction, but perhaps it could be the cure for indifference. I love the original animation, and being able to be a part of it is such a uniquely gamey thing. It's like reaching into a cartoon and operating it for yourself.Īnd that's why I found this such a treat. Moments that stand out in the original cartoon, like the hug between two figures, both plugged into wires from opposite sides of the screen, become loosely interactive, letting you wobble the wires, tug at the characters, and ultimately pop the sockets from their heads. Buttons, plugs, socket-heads, etc, are stuck in and tugged out, with the pleasing physics making it a tactile experience. Most of it, however, is concerned with the insertion of sticky-out bits into sticky-in bits, which I'm sure must be representative of something. The grossness expands with the realisation that prong-heads fit into bottoms, creating sequences deliberately reminiscent of the revolting Human Centipede films, albeit rendered near-harmless in the form of outline doodle characters. Where in the film one of the socket-headed figures sucks in the two prongs that form his "head", and then proceeds to agonisingly poo them out, here you simply hold the cursor down on him to induce the rectal squeezing. But taking part makes such a difference, especially when it comes to the strangest moments. Your involvement in the game is somewhat limited, with the inevitability of ensuing scenes set despite the direction or order in which you might plug or throw things. And this act of insertion, coupling and uncoupling, is very much part of the film/game's innuendo. Rather wonderfully, the film's original animation becomes interactive, with physics applied to the wires and plugs, meaning you can pick them up, wave them around, and insert them into one another. Your role is to plug in, unplug, rearrange, or simply interact with the animated wires or characters on screen. Reworked into a game by Swiss developer, Mario von Rickenbach, the result is something utterly original, and inevitably extremely polarising. Here's wot I think:īased on a short film by Michael Frei, also called Plug & Play, this gameified version uses the same animation, depicting plugs, sockets, and plug/socket humanoids, but lets you interact on a very peculiar level. This animation-turned-game is a twenty minute vignette of glorious strangeness. I love it for being genuinely surreal (as in, genuinely, not "ooh, fish and jam"), I love it for being deeply scatological, and I love it for making me laugh. AuthorWrite something about yourself.
